どういう意味なのかしら？と検索すると、

『酒とバラの日々』という1962年公開のアメリカ映画に行き着いた。
えっ？結局、どういう意味なんだ？と
ますます迷子になったので、
ロンドンのパルに聞いてみた。
It means things cannot be great all the time.
（いつも素晴らしい、ということはないだろう
という意味よ。）
